§4 Google Analytics

Tiger Media uses Google Analytics for its website. Google Analytics is a web analysis service provided by Google Incorporated, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA (“Google”). Google Analytics collects information such as how often users visit this site, what pages they visit when they do so, and what other sites they used prior to coming to this site. Tiger Media uses the information it gets from Google Analytics only to improve its website. Google Analytics collects only the IP address assigned to me on the date I visit the website, rather than my name or other identifying information. Tiger Media does not combine the information collected through the use of Google Analytics with personally identifiable information. Although Google Analytics plants a permanent cookie on the web browser to identify me as a unique user the next time I visit the website, the cookie cannot be used by anyone but Google. Google’s ability to use and share information collected by Google Analytics about my visits to the website is restricted by the Google Analytics Terms of Use and the Google Privacy Policy. I can prevent Google Analytics from recognizing me on return visits to this site by disabling cookies on my browser (http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout? hl=de).

§5 Google AdWords

Tiger Media uses the Google AdWords remarketing service to advertise on third party websites (including Google) to previous visitors to its website. It could mean that Tiger Media advertises to previous visitors who haven’t completed a task on the website, for example using the contact form to make an enquiry. This could be in the form of an advertisement on the Google search results page, or a site in the Google Display Network. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on someone’s past visits to the website. Of course, any data collected will be used in accordance with Tiger Media’s privacy policy and Google’s privacy policy (http://www.google.com/intl/en/policies/privacy/). I can set preferences for how Google advertises to me using the Google Ad Preferences page, also I can opt out of interest-based advertising entirely using cookie settings or by permanently using a browser plugin.

§6 Social Plug-Ins

Tiger Media also uses social plugins on its website, e.g. from the Facebook or YouTube social networks. These are often technically operated in the USA or in other countries outside Germany and the EU and some are offered via national companies in the EU (see the websites www.facebook.com and  www.youtube.com for the providers). The plugins are identified with the companies’ logo, comment fields or what are known as a “Like” or “+1” button. With opening a page of Tiger Media’s website in the web browser containing such a plugin, the web browser will create a direct connection to the servers of the respective provider in the country concerned. By incorporating the plugins the provider is given at least the information that the user has visited a certain page on Tiger Media‘s website, and perhaps also other information that the web browser or the device in use also discloses. The content of the plugin is loaded by the web browser directly from the provider and incorporated into Tiger Media’s website. If the user is registered and has logged in with the provider concerned, the visit can also be assigned to the user account. If the user interacts with a plugin, the browser will also transmit this information directly to the provider where it will be saved and, if applicable, continue to be used and published. Above all, marketing measures of the provider and Tiger Media are the reason for the collection and use of the data as described and determine the extent of this. I can find details on this and on his rights and on ways in which he can prevent the collection and use of personal data in order to protect the private sphere directly in the data privacy policy of the respective provider. If I do not wish a provider to collect data on m through Tiger Media’s website I must deactivate the plugins in the web browser. If I wish to avoid a link to any existing user account, I must log out before I visit Tiger Media‘s website.
